Skype

Being able to call telephones from your computer or laptop can be a very useful feature. Here’s how to do it. Download and set-up a Skype account for windows or mac.

If you’ve recently bought a new laptop you’ve probably already got Skype extension pre-installed (usually in IE8). You’ll see this icon in the top right hand corner of your browser:

If you decide at a later date that Skype is not for you, it’s possible to uninstall it through Tools > Add-ons. Once Skype extension is installed in your toolbar telephone numbers on webpages will appear as in the image below, click and call – easy!

For the service to work you must have money in your account. You’ll probably spend half an hour or so tweaking your microphone and speaker settings, but once you’re done you’re just a click away from getting that research question answered.
