Jane Kurtz: Author Visit

On Monday April 19th, Jane Kurtz , author of many children’s books, e.g., “Water Hole Waiting,” and “The Storyteller’s Beads,” paid a visit to Bank Street School for Children. Ms. Kurtz spoke about her experiences growing up in Ethiopia and how they helped her to write children’s books.

Selection of Jane Kurtz's books.

She also treated the audience to childhood photographs of herself and her family while growing up in Africa.  She concluded her talk by displaying a picture of her inspiring  81 year-old father sky-diving for the first time.  She left us with these words: “Reading makes you strong, and gives you the desire to try new things. And, it’s never too late to do something new.”

Special thanks to Audrey (Technical Services Assistant) for the photograph and review.

Reference librarian at Bank Street College Library.
